Embedded flash memory IP is a flash memory array
block used to store program codes as part of embedded
electronic sub-block components such as DSP (digital
signal processor), MCU (micro controller unit)
and glue logic in the integration of a system-on-chip
(SoC).
ESI has been selected by System
IC Division of Hynix Semiconductor as one of its
embedded flash IP providers in its 0.25 um technology.
Along with Hynix, ESI has provided other customers
with a 16Mbit flash IP for their PLD products.
ESI also is working with Dongbu
Electronics as a strategic partner to develop
its embedded flash IPs in various densities (1M
and 2Mbit, for examples) on its 0.18 mm flash
technology.
In order to better serve its customers
with a wide range of SoC design applications,
ESI is to expand its IP portfolios by fanning
out its IP library to multiple foundries. ESI
is now under negotiations with other wafer foundries.
